Suttonians’ Trio On Course For Olympics

Suttonians’ Sean Cribbin and Dylan O’Grady gave a hometown feel to Olympic qualification as Ireland’s seven aside men downed the much fancied Team GB to book a place in the 2024 Paris Olympics, running out impressive 26-12 winners in Krakow on Sunday past.

This will be Ireland’s second Olympic appearance for the men’s team after their debut at the 2021 Games in Tokyo.

This Irish win was fashioned by tries from Billy Dardis, Terry Kennedy and a brace from Jordan Conroy, which sealed the deal on a famous Irish win. Both Cribbin and O’Grady’s involvement was completed in the earlier stages, but which helped pave the way for the final showdown against the ‘ole enemy.

Sean and Dylan now join fellow club mate, Kate Farrell-McCabe who has already claimed the honor as the first Suttonian set for the Olympic stage. This is a huge achievement for Suttonians and is fitting testimony to the dedication and commitments of the underage set up that has helped mould 3 Olympians in one year!

Now with both the Irish men’s and women’s team bound for Paris ‘24, local interest in the national cause will be at fever pitch.
