Stan and Rita Making Waves On Claremont Beach
The mindless graffiti daubed on Claremont Beach promenade early this month marked a new low by visiting vandals and the racial slurs and ugly sentiment punctured the environment. But it also seemed a significant setback for Howth Tidy Towns, which was just crossing the t’s and dotting the i’s on its Tidy Towns application.
But following a call to arms from HTT, there was an overwhelming community response that saw Fingal County Council, Cllrs Joan Hopkins and David Healy doing some legwork, which all culminated in some amazing paintings by two budding artists, Ang and Nicola, converting the mindless graffiti to beach art and returning the area, to its former splendour.
Now, Stan and Rita (pictured) are beach chic and ready for summer – a welcome addition in any weather.
