AXA Parks Fund Sees Biodiversity Hub Set For Howth

Since September’s news that Howth Tidy Towns was awarded grant funding from the AXA Parks Fund, plans have been put in place to create a biodiversity hub for the area. This is to include a safe sensory garden, a play area for children, eight raised beds for growing organic veg., native edible hedgerows, fruit bushes to feed a village, herb gardens and a wild edible mushroom farm.

The hub is to be situated just across from Scoil Mhuire and the AXA grant will assist in kick-starting the project. Howth Tidy Towns are now looking to recruit volunteers who will be able to grow their own food, or learn and grow as they go, while living the good life, close to nature and the bounty it has to offer.
