Councillor Hopkins Campaign For Safety Measures At Local DART Station

Concerned with issues around safety Cllr Joan Hopkins has taken up the gauntlet on behalf of residents in the Baldoyle area and has had several meetings with Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail in a mission to install CCTV on the Baldoyle/Seagrange side of the DART line. This comes on foot of a number of recent incidents which have highlighted the need for better security.

However, Irish Rail have informed Cllr Hopkins that they would require access to an electrical pole owned by Fingal County Council and on which they would install the CCTV.

This access is yet to be provided by Fingal and rather than displaying a sense of urgency for the cause, the Councillor has been directed to make an application to the Fingal Property Department.

At a time when the evenings are closing in and darker journeys are in store for commuters, it surely behoves Fingal to show more alacrity, cut the red tape and get this issue sorted, so commuters feel more assured and before another needless incident brings the urgency of this issue to the fore.
