Howth New Pier Gets Go-Ahead From Fingal
With funding of almost 3 million Euros from the European Social and Economic Fund, the Howth Pier extension finally got under way with unanimous approval both from local council officials and the local community. Despite the travails of lockdown, the APM contract team have made steady progress and the completion date has been “reset” for September, with a launch ceremony and opening planned for mid-October.
The upgrade will bring Howth in line with other major fishing ports and with a new designated status as a landing hub for NI boats, the local economy may be set for a post Brexit boost, reinstating Howth former glory as one of the finest fishing ports in the country and repositioning it for the future.
