Local TD Cian O’Callaghan Appointed As Deputy Leader Of Social Democrats

Following his consistent endeavour at a local level and his performance in Dail Eireann, TD for the area, Cian O’Callaghan has been appointed as Deputy Leader of the Social Democrats.

O’Callaghan has been to the fore in representing residents of Howth, Sutton, Baldoyle and Bayside on a range of issues including, the campaign by locals to head off Irish Rail’s shuttle service plans, safe access for Baldoyle’s Myrtle residents to the DART and has successfully brought locals’ concerns re access to Deer Park to national prominence.

Speaking outside Leinster House, Cian O’Callaghan said he was delighted to take up the position at “such an exciting time for the Social Democrats. Along with my parliamentary party colleagues, councillors and valued members of the Social Democrats around the country, I look forward to continuing our journey as a growing political force in Ireland.”

Locals will no doubt feel that this is just recognition for a civic spirited, straight-talking politician who wears his heart on his sleeve, has worked tirelessly to champion local concerns and has diligently served the area without fear or favour. We wish him well.
