Magnificent 7 Selection Sees Bright Future For Suttonians’ Young Guns
Up to 7 players from the ranks of Suttonians’ U15s panel have been selected for the Leinster Metro Development squad. This is a huge honor for the club and a first step on the road to representative rugby for the players. Previous Suttonians who have progressed from this Leinster training regime include our own Jack Aungier (Connacht Rugby) and Sean Cribbin (Irish Sevens International).
The Metro Development squad is an elite performance environment that provides a customized training programme for each player and focuses both on on-field skills, match strategy and tactics, as well individual strength and conditioning.
The programme also provides a shop window for talent and after a series of trial matches, a squad is selected to compete in the Shane Horgan Cup, where the Leinster Metro squad compete against the other 4 Leinster development regions.
Suttonians’ Magnificent 7 include Ben Barnes, Simon Cantwell, Ryan Curly, Michael Bolger, Adam Coffey, Ponamu Palazatti and Matthew Loughney. Big congratulations to club and coaches and we look forward to a progress report on the emerging talent.
