Maturity Tolls As Baldoyle Girls Take U19 Title
BALDOYLE UNITED claimed a deserved provincial title with a 2-1 victory over Shelbourne FC, in a highly competitive Leinster Football Association Under 19 encounter at Stella Maris’ grounds on Richmond Road, last Wednesday evening.
On a chilly night, both teams served up a display worthy of the occasion and while there were few who would begrudge Baldoyle their victory, credit to Shelbourne who were game to the last and which made for an immensely entertaining 90 minutes of football.
The match was played in a real sporting spirit and goals from Katie McDonagh and Nicole Haas sent the Baldoyle girls on their way, before a close in strike by Shelbourne’s Katie Talbot found the net, to make for a nervous, yet compelling closing spell.
But at the final whistle, justice had prevailed and cue the celebrations which went long into the evening. This is another accolade for Baldoyle United and a burgeoning trophy cabinet is ample reward for the dedication of all associated with the club.
