A brisk breeze saw a welcome return to the real normal as Suttonians played host to Ashbourne RFC at the McDowell Memorial grounds. Played in front of a “full house”, the on-field activity was mirrored by a lively and passionate support.
Suttonians went behind early on and despite two tries found themselves behind by 20-12 with 5 minutes remaining, before a third Suttonians try made for a nail biting finish. The home side played with ball in hand and despite numerous forays into the opposition 22, the visitors held their line.
A shrill whistle brought proceedings to a close and while going down by 20-17, the passion of the play from the home side and the activity in the bar after, bodes well for the remainder of the season.
Next up is this Saturday, away to Monkstown – all welcome.
