What Goes On Tour Stays On Tour – Suttonians Stay Schtum On Missing Mascot

Suttonians Senior Men’s squad travelled to Lisbon, Portugal on Thursday, August 25, as part of the pre-season effort to acclimatize to the heat of the Leinster League. This has been the first Suttonians Senior XV tour since 2007 and the 27 players were joined by coaching team and supporters, all under the watchful eye of Club President, Gerry Cadden.

During the tour, the squad trained in the impressive CDUL facilities and against the CDUL Senior squad. CDUL is one of Portugal’s top teams, competing at the highest level of their national league. For the 2021/22 season, CDUL signed ex-Suttonians RFC tighthead, prop Oscar Cunningham, who became a crucial member of the Portuguese outfit.

After a very successful tour, JustLocal.ie can report that all members of the touring party, players, staff and supporters did arrive home safely but that the club mascot unfortunately is yet to declare itself and is presumed “in transit”. The club has requested that any sightings or further information on its whereabouts and/or experiences be reported to: info@justlocal.ie

Next on the agenda for Suttonians is a pre-season friendly against Dundalk on Friday, 9th of September. Kick-off: 7:30pm.        The season is hotting up!
