West Awake – As Suttonians’ Son Crashlands in Connacht
Following the completion of a three year contract with Leinster, local man Jack Aungier has agreed to a three year deal with Connacht. A practitioner of the front row’s dark arts, Jack showed early promise when he joined Suttonian Rugby at the age of seven and was schooled all the way up by the club.
He also was a leading light in the St Fintans 2017 Leinster Senior Cup who were unlucky to bow out of the competition in the quarter finals against Clongowes.
Since then Jack has gone on to a bigger stage and speaking on behalf of Suttonians Rugby Club, President Gordon Linehan commented, “the club takes great pride in the level of participation in Suttonians Youth section of the club and Jack is a fine example of what can be achieved.”
Wishing him well for the future, the President also pointed out that there was plenty of budding local talent and that Jack was a great example for younger players in the club.
With a full season of Pro14 coming up, the exploits of the “old” Suttonian will son be on show on Eir Sport and whatever about rooting for Connacht, you can always roar on one of our own.
