Irish Cancer Society Chief Alerts Locals To A Collection Of Concern
CEO of the Irish Cancer Society has alerted residents in the Bayside area to a charitable appeal that landed in her own own door last week. The appeal for clothes and shoes in aid of breast cancer research caught the eye of Averil Power, CEO of the Irish Cancer Society’s who has expressed her misgivings for the collection, pointing out that without a reference to a specific charity, or without a charity number, the appeal is unlikely to be genuine.
The former Fianna Fail Councillor underlined that collections like this divert donations from genuine charities and can also result in donated goods being dumped if the collectors don’t consider them to be of value.
