Marlet On The Move And Edros Building Is No More
JustLocal has noted that Marlet, the developers of the Balscadden site which incorporates the old Edros Sports Hall and the Baily Court Hotel in Howth village, has commenced preparatory work on the site. The Edros building has been demolished and work has been ongoing and some of the roofing has been taken off the hotel’s outbuildings. It is expected that Marlet will provide an update on its plans in the near future.
In many ways what started out with high hopes proved to be a white elephant and then a real eye sore, as plans for the Edros as a centre of community activity and engagement never materialised.
In the course of the planning process, Balscadden residents made serious challenges and some limited concessions have been won, but it must be now hoped that development on this derelict site will improve the general vicinity and add to the area.
